| Supplemental Faculty: Art and Film/Television
Art Department faculty teach key courses supplementing the animation program, including life drawing and motion graphics.
For more information see the Creative Arts website. Film/Television's live-action faculty head other emphases within the department and teach courses which are of great value to animation students. Susan Tavernetti (M.A., Film, USC) coordinates media studies at De Anza, teaching film history, genre, authors and national cinemas. African-American cinema is taught by Eb Hunter (M.A. San Jose State) and introductory film studies by several adjunct faculty, including Susan Rines (M. A., Film, UCLA). David Barney (M.Ed., U. of Hawaii) teaches mass media, film writing and multi-camera television production; Ed Breault is the television station's Chief Engineer. Advanced film writing is taught by Greg Blatman (M.F.A, NYU). Zaki Lisha, (B. A., Film, USC; M.A., Film, San Francisco State U.) teaches and coordinates film/video production, direction and editing. 16mm short narrative film production is taught by Dennis Irwin (M.A., Film, Stanford) and documentary and experimental film production by Darcy Cohn (M.A., Film, Stanford), who also coordinates the visiting filmmaker colloquium. Tom Schott, the supervisor of Film/Television production, heads the technical staff managing the department's equipment and facilities.
