At De Anza, the athletic program is an extension of the Physical Education program. It serves the needs of everyone interested in competing at a higher level of athletic competition. We offer a comprehensive all-sports program with over 350 student athletes. There are nine men’s sports and ten women’s sports. Program overviews, coaching staffs and team schedules are available by clicking on the links on the left side of this page.

De Anza College has won the Coast Conference All Sports Award (Bud Ottmar Award) 11 out of 18 years. Men and women of all ages, ethnicity and skill level are encouraged to compete in athletic contests against other community colleges, clubs, or colleges and universities.

Through this program, an individual has an opportunity to acquire an athletic scholarship offered by four-year colleges and universities. Not everyone is fortunate enough to obtain a scholarship, but because of their participation in our successful athletic program and the high transfer rate of our student athletes, many colleges and universities are eager to assist De Anza athletes in matriculating into their institutions.

The annual transfer rate has always been approximately eighty percent and the retention rate ninety percent. The average GPA of De Anza College student athletes the past five years has been above 3.22.

COA Scholar Team Award

The following teams were recognized as the Scholar Team Award recipients for their sport for all of California for the year listed:

Women's Basketball 2004
Baseball, 2003
Men’s Soccer, 2001
Women’s Soccer, 1996
Football, 1995
Women’s Cross Country, 1994
