Head Coach Nick Mattis

Coach Mattis will begin his third season at De Anza this fall. In his first two seasons he lead both the Men's and Women's teams to the California Cross Country State Championships. Something that had not been done in many years at De Anza.
Prior to coming to De Anza Coach Mattis worked in the Athletic Department for Montana State University.
He received his Master's Degree from Western Illinois University in Sport Management and his Bachelor's Degree in K-12 Physical Education from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA.
Coach Mattis has over 11 years of coaching experience ranging from Junior High to College in Track and Field and Cross Country.
Assistant Coach JJ Noble
Entering his first season at De Anza is Coach JJ Noble. Coach Noble brings his experience and enthusiasm and will assist in the multi events (Pole Vault, Jumps, Throws).
In 2001, Noble earned All-American honors when he won a NCAA national title in the decathlon.
Coach Noble received his Master's Degree from Chico State in Physical Education. Coach Noble is USATF Level I certified.
Assistant Coach Mike Mayes
Mike Mayes helped coach the De Anza track team last year after finishing his eligibility running for the Dons. Mike was a member of last seasons state qualifying team.
Mike is a graduate of Irvington High School in Fremont and is a student at San Jose State majoring in Athletic Training.
