HEAD COACH - MARK LANDEFELD

Mark Landefeld returned to De Anza College in 2007 as Head Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics, to take over the rains of the highly successful program to which he contributed during the 1990s.

De Anza soccer playerHe served as assistant coach during three stints in that decade and was a part of the State Championship programs with both the Women (1993) and the Men (1997). In between these championships, Mark was an assistant coach with the men's soccer program at Stanford University and spent 1996-1997 as administrator for both the Cardinal men and women soccer programs.

Prior to his return to De Anza, Mark served as Head Coach of the men's programs at Cabrillo College and at Evergreen Valley College. At Cabrillo, he directed the team to their first playoff appearances (2001, 2002). From 2004-2006, he was also the Secretary of the CCCSCA (California Community College Soccer Coaches Association) and currently serves as the organization's NorCal Men's President.

During the 1988-2000 period, he also served as part of the State Olympic Development Program staff as a head coach in both the boys and girls programs, identifying and developing numerous future national youth team players. During 1996-1997, Mark served as Technical Director of the CYSA-North ODP program, selecting and supervising the state-level coaches.

Soccer players running on field.He is also well-acquainted with the local high schools programs, having served as Boys Varsity Coach at Monta Vista High School from 1987 to 1994, where his teams earned six De Anza League championships and a CCS Championship in 1992. Prior to this, he also served as an assistant coach at St. Francis High School.

Mark has earned the USSF "A" license and also holds a Master's Degree in Kinesiology from San Jose State, specializing in Sport Management.

He has also served as a site volunteer for both the 1984 Olympic Soccer and 1994 World Cup Soccer tournaments. Mark has also provided operational support for numerous local events such as the Silicon Valley Football Classic, The USOC Titan Games, The Jungle Run half-marathon, the Big Kahuna Triathlon, the San Jose Earthquakes and the Santa Cruz County Breakers of the National Premier Soccer League.
