De Anza Summer Volleyball Clinics 2008(pdf) About De Anza Volleyball: De Anza College has a tremendous volleyball history. The De Anza Dons have been to the state playoffs a total of 9 times and have been runner-up a total of 5 times. We also have over 27 conference titles! Since being hired at De Anza College in 1999 the De Anza Women's Volleyball team has been conference champions seven years and second place for two of the years. We have also made it to the Northern California playoffs every year. De Anza finished out the 2007 season with a record of 15-7. We placed first in the Coast Conference and advanced to the Northern California playoffs. De Anza lost in the first round to a tough College of the Siskiyous Team up in Lassen, CA. The 2008 season looks very promising as we will be returning 4 players from this past season, and adding some outstanding talented incoming freshman. About Coach GuevaraDawnis graduated from Del Mar High School in San Jose in 1988. She was the MVP of the varsity team for three years and the MVP of the junior varsity team for one year. Dawnis attended San Jose State University where she was a four year full scholarship athlete, and was the starting outside hitter all four years. During these four years SJSU was ranked nationally for Division 1 in the top 20 every year and top 10 during her junior year. She currently holds the record for all-time digs at SJSU and is second on the record books for all-time kills. Dawnis was named MVP for three years. She was selected on the Freshman Team (Big West), Second Team (Big West), and First Team (Big West). Dawnis was also a professional player on the San Jose Storm for 4 years, playing with various Olympic and professional beach players. Dawnis has coached for over 17 years, and has been a head coach at the collegiate level for 6 years. During her 6 years of coaching at De Anza College the team has won the conference 4 years and have been second place for 2 years. She has taken the De Anza Dons to the playoffs every year. For the past 2 years the Coast Conference coaches have selected a De Anza player as MVP of the league, and these two players were also selected as First Team All-State. Dawnis was named Coach of the Year for the Coast Conference for 4 years. |
