Head Coach Emily Schmit
In Fall 2008 Coach Emily Schmit lead the Lady Don's in their first competitive season in several years. Following a successful season, Coach Schmit assumed coaching responsibilities for the men's program in January 2009. She joined the De Anza water polo program after successfully leading and coaching

the University of Arizona Women's and Men's water polo clubs for three full seasons. Under her leadership, the UA's Women's team won two Southwest Conference Championships and two top ten finishes at the National Collegiate Club Championships (7th - 2007, 4th - 2008 ). The men’s “A” and “B” teams completed the 2007 fall season with a first ever one-two finish in the Southwest Conference and a fourth place finish at the National Collegiate Club Championships. Coach Emily was awarded the Southwest Coach of the Year for both the women and men’s 2007 seasons and the women’s 2008 season.
In addition to coaching Coach Emily received her Juris Doctorate and Master of Arts Degree in Women's Studies from the University of Arizona. Her Bachelor's Degree in Gender Studies, History and Sociology was earned at Indiana University where she also played Division I varsity water polo.
Coach Emily has over 10 years of teaching and coaching age-group, masters, high school and college level water polo and swimming.
