You're Invited to De Anza College's 40th Annual Commencement!
Faculty, staff and administrators are encouraged to attend De Anza's annual graduation ceremony to be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, at the college's Outdoor Events Arena. State Assemblymember Anna M. Caballero will serve as keynote speaker.
About 600 De Anza students will earn certificates and 1,250 will earn degrees this year, among them President's Scholarship Award winners Yosief Hailemichael and Rehana Rehman. Winners of the annual award must have overcome significant adversity or obstacles and shown great perseverance in seeking an education at De Anza and are personally selected by the college president.
"Both Yosief and Rehana are simply remarkable," said President Brian Murphy. "Their determination to succeed--against what must at times have seemed almost insurmountable odds--is awe-inspiring. I am deeply proud that De Anza College could provide opportunities for these dedicated students, at the same time benefiting greatly from their presence and contributions to our community."
Students from Eugene Rodriguez's Arts 64 class painted two murals titled "What Does Justice Look Like?" on the walls of the gymnasiums in the entrance to the pool area near the Forum Building. The Office of Community and Civic Engagement funded the project.
Relay For Life of Cupertino at De Anza College
Relay For Life® is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. The event celebrates survivorship and raises money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
When: Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m.-Sunday, July 29, 10 a.m.

The Visual and Performing Arts Center kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9 at the building site in Parking Lot A. More information will follow.
Student Health Services Moving to S-82
The office will close Friday, June 29 and reopen Monday, July 9 at its new location in S-82. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
De Anza Student Places in Math Competition
Yujim Yoshimura tied for fourth place in the recent Student Math League competition, and De Anza came in fifth place overall for the teams in the West Region. The Student Mathematics League includes more than 165 colleges, involving more than 8,000 community college mathematics students.
College Environmental Advisory Group (CEAG) Seeks Participants
CEAG is a committee on the De Anza campus that monitors and makes recommendations regarding college and district policies relating to environmentally sound practices. CEAG embraces and fosters principles of sustainability as core values. Recently the De Anza Sustainability Policy was completed and approved by De Anza's shared governance bodies. Students, faculty, staff and administrators are encouraged to attend twice-monthly CEAG meetings at 9 a.m.:

Books Needed for Annual Library Book Sale
Here's your chance to do two good things at the same time: clean your shelves and give to a good cause. Bring your book donations to the Reference Desk and receive a form for tax purposes noting the number of paperback and hardcover books you're donating. Fiction, nonfiction and DVDs are welcome during the last week of spring quarter and throughout the summer.
