Enrollment Fee (Tuition)

All students will be charged a state-mandated fee of $31 per unit taken. See below for additional fees that may apply to certain students, such as nonresident and foreign citizen tuition.

Basic Fees

These quarterly fees are the same for all students.

Campus Center Fee

This mandatory $17.50 fee is used to amortize a federal construction loan for the Campus Center.

If you are enrolled only in off-campus classes and live outside of De Anza's service area, you may submit a written request in person or by e-mail to deanzacashier@fhda.edu to waive the Campus Center fee and provide documents that support your request. Requests will be processed no earlier than the fourth week of the quarter or the third week of summer session.

Health Services Fee

This mandatory $17 fee provides health services on campus. This is not health insurance.

If you depend exclusively upon prayer for healing, you may request that this fee be waived by completing and submitting the Application for Exemption from Student Health Center Fee. You must also provide a written statement of such reliance from an official of your sect, denomination or organization. The waiver is valid for the applicable term that you are requesting.

SmartPass (formerly Eco Pass) Fee

This mandatory fee provides VTA SmartPass service for all eligible students. Part-time students with 0.5 to 5.9 units will be charged $5.75 per quarter, part-time students with 6.0 to 11.9 units will be charged $6.75 per quarter, and full-time students with 12 or more units will be charged $7.75 per quarter. Learn more and get your SmartPass!

DASB Membership Fee

This optional $10 fee supports services, activities and student discounts offered through the De Anza Associated Student Body (DASB) – including free legal advice; athletic, health services and creative arts events; programs and events; discounted AMC movie tickets; diversity programs; student scholarships; college newspaper and leadership opportunities. Payment of the DASB Membership Fee is required to get a DASB Card.

If you do not wish to pay all optional fees, you must submit a written request in person or by email to deanzacashier@deanza.edu. The waiver request must be submitted during the registration period and is valid for the term that you are requesting.

Registration Support Fee

This optional $1.50 fee supports the creation and distribution of the De Anza College Catalogue, online schedule of classes, e-mail communication (including pay-to-stay reminders) and mailing cost of other registration materials.

If you do not wish to pay all optional fees, you must submit a written request in person or by email to deanzacashier@deanza.edu. The waiver request must be submitted during the registration period and is valid for the term that you are requesting.

Student Representation Fee

This optional fee supports California Community College student advocacy. Established under Assembly Bill 1358, this fee helps to address the need to expand student representation and participation locally and on a statewide level. Students will be charged $1.33 for fall quarter, $1.33 for winter quarter and $1.34 for spring quarter – for a total of $4 annually.

If you do not wish to pay all optional fees, you must submit a written request in person or by email to deanzacashier@deanza.edu. The waiver request must be submitted during the registration period and is valid for the term that you are requesting.

Parking Fees

To avoid paying for a parking permit each day, students may pay a quarterly or annual fee for a parking decal that can be transferred from one vehicle windshield to another. (The motorcycle decal goes on the bumper.)

The quarterly decal must be purchased each quarter, and a separate decal is necessary for summer. You are eligible for a refund only if you return the unused decal to the Cashier's Office by the second Friday of the quarter (first Friday of summer session), or if all your classes are cancelled by the college.

Quarterly Parking Fee

  • Automobiles (cars or trucks): $26.65
  • Motorcycles or mopeds: $15

Summer Parking Fee

  • Automobiles (cars or trucks): $20
  • Motorcycles or mopeds: $15

Annual Parking Fee

  • All vehicles: $90 if purchased at the start of summer session; $70 if purchased at the start of fall quarter; $50 if purchased at the start of spring quarter.
  • This fee is nonrefundable.

BOG Fee Waiver / California College Promise

  • Recipients of the California College Promise Fee Waiver, previously known as the BOG Fee Waiver, may purchase a parking decal for $13.15 per quarter.

Parking decal must be ordered online

Student parking decals must be ordered online through MyPortal and by clicking on the Parking Permit app. After clicking on it, please select the "Order De Anza Parking Permit" button. Upon completion of the online purchase, you will receive a purchase confirmation via email or text message. You will also be provided with a printable receipt and an interim permit, good for 15 days from the date of purchase, that you can print out. The interim permit is for temporary display until your decal arrives in the mail. All decals are mailed to the delivery address specified on the order.

When you purchase a permit online, you will be charged a shipping and handling fee of $2.50 to $6. You can avoid the handling charge by paying for your parking permit in person at the Cashier’s Office counter in the Registration and Student Services Building. However, you still need to pre-order the decal online before you can pay for the permit. You will be given your interim permit at the time you pay the permit fee. To avoid waiting in line, we recommend paying before the Monday when classes start.

  • You will be required to pay for a new parking decal if yours is stolen, lost or damaged, or if you entered an incorrect or incomplete delivery address when ordering.

Concurrent High School Student Fees

High school students who enroll in more than 11.5 units (six units in summer) at either Foothill, De Anza, or combined, will be charged all fees. See our Concurrent Students webpage for more information.

Foreign Citizen Fees

Foreign citizens are charged $160 per unit ($163 per unit beginning summer 2018) in addition to the regular enrollment fee and basic fees. The foreign citizen category includes foreign citizens with non-qualifying visas (Ex.:C, D, F, H2, J, M, O2, P, Q, TC or TD). For F-1 visa holders, health insurance is required and its fee is added when registered.

Nonresident Fees

(This includes U.S citizens who are not California residents, as well as certain qualifying visa holders.)

Nonresidents are charged $160 per unit ($163 per unit beginning summer 2018) in addition to the regular enrollment fee and basic fees. The nonresident category includes U.S. citizens who are not legal California residents. This category also includes students holding qualifying visas (Ex.:A, E, G, I, K, L, H1, H4 or permanent resident visas) who have been in the country and held an eligible visa for one year and one day before the term begins, but have NOT lived in the state of California for one year and one day before the term begins.

For summer session 2018, this tuition is waived for students enrolled in six or fewer units at De Anza College, Foothill College or both campuses, and currently reside in California. (Nonresident tuition will still be charged for all units if the student is taking more than six units in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District.)

Please Note

The waiver of nonresident tuition for students enrolled in six or fewer units is being discontinued. Beginning in fall 2018, all nonresident students will be charged nonresident tuition regardless of how many units they are taking.
