Mission Statement (5/28/03)

The FHDACCD commits to environmentally sound practices (ESP) and continuous improvement in environmental performance in all operations. FHDA recognizes that our operations and facilities impact the environment and is committed to actively seeking means to minimize our impact on energy, and protecting water and other natural resources. FHDA will require all our suppliers and contractors to commit to similar environmental standards and work in partnership with them to ensure that facilities and operations incorporate the highest level of environmental protection, in accordance with Board Policy Section 3214. It is part of the mission of CEAG of De Anza College to insure that De Anza College meets the standards set by this policy.

To assist in the implementation of these standards in all aspects of daily operations, CEAG will continue to monitor and make recommendations on the following environmental performance criteria:

Energy:
  • Renewable energy
  • Conservation
  • Energy efficiency - set criteria for compliance with Title 24 and beyond on a case by case basis
  • Building commissioning
  • Site orientation to emphasize daylighting and efficiency
Materials and Resources:
  • Construction materials
  • Classroom equipment
  • Solid waste recyling
  • Demolition materials recycling and diversion
Water Conservation:
  • Efficient use of water
  • Landscaping
  • Waste water and storm water management
  • Native and drought tolerant/resistant flora
Indoor Environmental Quality:
  • Indoor air quality
  • Employee health and productivity
  • Daylighting
Sustainable Efforts:
  • Transportation
  • Operations and maintenance
  • Pollution prevention
  • Sky friendly lighting
  • Procurement
CEAG will be comprised of a representative from each of the following areas: Administration, Faculty, Staff, a Student and one at-large member.
