YOU CAN PLAY UKULELE! (390*) The popularity of the ukulele has grown tremendously over the years. Since it is an easy instrument to learn, it can be quickly rewarding. This class will provide the tools and guidance to start playing with relative ease, even if a student has no musical background. During the course, students will learn how to hold and tune a ukulele, along with basic chords and melodies, fingerings, rhythm and tempo, basic reading and music theory. This six-week course is designed with the beginner in mind.
Instructor: Rich Hawthorne has been a Bay Area guitar instructor for more than 20 years. He is the co-author of “I’ve Always Wanted to Play Guitar.”
Class requirements: Tablet or computer with internet capability, Must be age 14 or older. Students under 18 must take this class with an adult who has also registered. Each student will need a ukulele. Ukuleles can be purchased from the instructor for $80-$120. To purchase, please contact the instructor at least one week before class starts, at rhguitarist@sbcglobal.net.

 YOU CAN PLAY GUITAR! (370*) Learn the basics of playing the guitar, including right- and left-hand technique, strumming chords and playing melodies. Students will learn to play simple
blues, rock and folk songs. This is an absolute beginner’s course, with no experience necessary. This course is also recommended for students who have some playing skills but no formal instruction.
