Program Description
On April 24th 2009, De Anza Community College will host an AACC Regional one-day Workshop designed to support efforts to establish service-learning programs and strengthen existing programs within community colleges.
This workshop will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Brian Murphy, founder of San Francisco State University's Institute of Civic and community Engagement, a premier service learning organization and model. For the rest of the day, workshop attendees will have the opportunity to engage service learning practitioners in discussions about community partnerships, curriculum integration and how to determine the level of civic engagement in an organization. In addition the third segment of the workshop is designed to focus on how to more fully engage Pacific Islander Students.
This workshop is funded through a grant provided by the American Association of Community Colleges and Learn and Serve America, IMPACT AAPI, and De Anza College.
