Distance Learning

Distance Learning Center

Media and Learning Center

Distance Learning provides educational opportunities that are not limited to the time and space constraints of traditional classes. Online instructors utilize a wide variety of tools such as online lectures, assignments, tests, discussion forums, and streaming video.

Take note: Some online courses require on-campus meetings. The Syllabus for your course contains detailed information such as where your class is hosted, requirements, deadlines, and the instructor's contact information. Please check the course information below.

Registration is handled the same as for traditional classes. Important registration dates can be viewed on the Academic Calendar.

For information on transferable courses or fulfilling prerequisites please contact Counseling.

New Student Catalyst Session

Students enrolled for the first time in an online class that uses Catalyst, De Anza's e-classroom software, are invited to attend either of two optional, face-to-face welcome sessions the first week of classes. You'll see what a Catalyst class looks like and learn how to get things done. These sessions are not required and do not replace any orientation for your specific classes (see the Online Orientation link below for those). The two sessions are identical, and no reservation is required. Both sessions will be held in MLC 255, on the second floor of the Media and Learning Center (MLC) building.

  • Tuesday, September 23, 5-6 PM in MLC 255
  • Friday, September 26, 12:30-1:30 PM in MLC 255
