Registration

Distance learning students enroll using the same registration procedures as other students. First time or returning De Anza students may apply to the college at the Admissions and Records Office or online. Upon acceptance to the college the student receives information on registration including a date and time to register. Registration is available either online or by phone using the Student Telephone Assisted Registration (STAR).

You are encouraged to register for distance learning classes early. There is a high demand for many distance learning classes and classes may fill prior to the end of the registration period.

For courses still available during the add/drop period, a student may obtain an add code from the instructor, or, as authorized by the instructor, from the Distance Learning Center. For your convenience, you may add your class online with this code. It is highly recommended that classes are added immediately. Registering in a course at your earliest opportunity assures that subsequent internal processes, generated by your registration, will occur in a timely manner. (This includes access to required accounts to log in to certain online courses.)

Distance Learning students are required to either attend an on-campus orientation or complete an online orientation, depending on the requirements of the instructor. Failure to complete this requirement will result in an automatic drop from that course by your faculty member.

Fees associated with the dropped class will remain the responsibility of the student. A student is eligible for a refund, if a class is dropped within the first two weeks of the quarter and a Refund Request is completed. A service fee, not to exceed $10 per quarter, will be charged for classes dropped within the quarter. No refunds for drops are available after the deadlines. See the De Anza college Schedule of Classes or web site at www.deanza.edu for further information.
