An introduction to the study of creativity in human life; its sources, development, social purpose, and role
in culture change. Students analyze creativity as a central source of meaning and purpose in their lives as
well as a development of their unique combination of human intelligences. Lives of creative people from all
over the world are examined and contextualized.

This class is entirely online. THERE ARE NO ON CAMPUS MEETINGS.
Online courses are equivalent to on campus courses in terms of units and the number of hours required by students. Some students are under the mistaken impression that an online class requires less work because students do not attend class. However, instead of attending lectures, students will complete assigned readings, written assignments, tests, watch online videos and participate in online discussion forums.
This course is not self-paced. All assignments and tests have due dates, and late penalties will apply. An important factor for success in distance learning classes is the student's ability to organize, manage and realistically schedule their time in accordance with their own abilities.
Be prepared to spend a minimum of 12 hours a week studying and using the course materials.
With online courses, students are required to have access to
a working computer with a stable high speed internet
connection. Computer problems will not be an acceptable
excuse for missing exams or assignment deadlines. Computers
are available on campus in the Learning Center and in public
libraries. It is the students responsibility to maintain
the functionality of their computer, network/ISP or find an
alternative solution in order to remain in the class.
SUMMER STUDENTS: A six week summer course is intense and moves very quickly. Students complete the same work as a regular 12 week class. Students must allow adequate time to complete assignments. All assignments have a due date and late penalties apply. If students are traveling, they are required to secure an internet connection and pay attention to any time changes. No exceptions or extensions will be given.

DROPPING THE COURSE: Any enrolled students who do not

After the first week, it is the student's responsibility to
drop, not the instructor's, and to adhere to all drop

well as the role that the Humanities, as expressions of

Access and evaluate cognitive theories and their connection
Analyze the synthesize elements of creative personality and
Examine and analyze the developmental states of creative
Recognize and analyze issues of equity in creativity, with
specific focus on race, ethnicity, class, and gender

Testing / Grading
TWO GRADED EXAMS are given online in Catalyst. Exams are
based on the reading assignments and composed of multiple
choice and true/false questions. There is a 24-hour time
period during which the exam must be completed. All exam
dates are listed in Catalyst.
There are NO MAKE UP EXAMS or alternate exam times
At the end of the quarter, all points will be totaled in
order to determine the final course grade. Grades are based
solely on points and are not rounded up. Factors such as effort, personal hardships, career goals, etc. are not part of the grading calculation.
93-100% =A; 90-92% = A-
87-89% = B+; 83-86% = B; 80-82% = B-
77-79% = C+; 70-76% = C
67-69% = D+; 63-66% = D; 60-62% = D-
59% and below = F
All test grades, assignment grades, and forum grades will be available in Catalyst. Course grades are based on points.
