WARNING: this is a summer class, in which the same material will be covered in six week summer session from a regular 12 week quarter. Be sure you have the time required to do the reading required every week AND take the necessary quizzes and exam. Six weeks will flash by quickly and to be successful, students must stay on top of the material. Be prepared to spend ten to twelve hours per week to use and study course materials. FOR PRE-REGISTERED STUDENTS, COMPLETE THE ON-LINE ORIENTATION AND SUBMIT STUDENT INFORMATION FORM BY THURSDAY, July 5, 2012 at 5 PM. (On-line orientation may be found at http://distance.deanza.fhda.edu). Pre-registered students who do not complete the on-line orientation by the deadline will be dropped from this class. The instructor reserves the right to drop ANY student who has not completed the orientation. Ultimately, it is the student's responsibility to adhere to the drop deadlines in order to drop the class.

ADDS: Regardless if there are adds or not available for this class, adds are always at the discretion of the instructor. If there are spaces available the first week, on Tuesday, July 2nd I will send add codes to individuals who have signed up on my wait list. I will not take adds unless there is space so please be sure to sign up on the wait list.

QUIZZES:

There will be weekly chapter quizzes, beginning the 2nd week two chapters will be covered and there two quizzes per week. NO alternative dates so please plan accordingly.

Each quiz will be worth 25 points. Quizzes will be objective in format. See on-line at Catalyst for times and dates. If you miss the quiz you will lose the points.

Total Quiz points= 250 points


EXAMS:

There will be one exam, a final exam. The final exam will consist of essay questions. Essay questions could be short in format or longer (covering more than one chapter).

Final Exam , given last week of classes covers Chapters 1-10 of text.

There will be NO alternative dates. Be prepared for the exam window when it opens.

EXAMS= 100 points

NO ALTERNATIVE QUIZZES OR EXAMS. I'm very strict with this.

Grading scale will be based on percentage:
A+= 100-98% B+= 89-88% D+= 69-68% F-= 52-below
A= 97-93% B= 87-83% D= 67-63%
A-= 92-90% B-= 82-80 D-= 62-60%
C+= 79-78% F+= 59-58%
C= 77-70 F= 57-53%

Grades will be based on:
Quizzes 250 points
Exam 100 points

Total 350 points
