An introduction to environmental science as a branch of the sciences and its relation to the scientific field including the scientific method. Review of the principles, concepts and terminology of the environmental sciences and ecological literacy including restoration ecology, landscape ecology, sustainable studies and ecosystem management. Agenda 21 and other environmental indicator tools as they relate to human use of the earth systems including the hydrosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere and biosphere and the impact on cultural, ethnic and gender groups will be explored.
