Meet Diana Argabrite, Employee of the Month
Diana Argabrite is an important part of why De Anza College continues to provide a thriving environment for visual arts, says nominator Paula Ahrens of the Community Education department.
"Diana always goes above and beyond to accommodate her staff, her artists and the students," she says, adding that Argabrite's widely varied skills, whether resolving student problems, substituting for art professors or answering parents' questions, have made her an irreplaceable asset to her own department and other areas.
In her 19 years with the Euphrat Museum of Art at De Anza College, Argabrite has worked to develop the Arts & Schools Program and many other branches of artistic community enrichment and cooperation. She oversees a variety of community outreach projects and museum business. "I consider the Euphrat a college and community treasure," she says, citing opportunities such as internships for student artists, available through the museum.
Argabrite has earned numerous awards and distinctions from outside organizations for her art and her work at De Anza College, including the CREST Award from the City of Cupertino for significant volunteer contributions and two California Arts Council Artist-in-Residence grants.
"Diana has worked miracles over the years, and it is time she is recognized for her dedication, outstanding performance and diligence in meeting the needs of her students, staff and faculty with grace and humility," says Ahrens. "She is simply a pleasure to work with and the very best at what she does."
