Book Recommendations (Disclaimer: some of these are self-help books; they are not intended to be a substitute for psychotherapy with a trained counselor, especially if you're suffering from severe problems, such as depression. They are instead ones I found to be useful, as there are a lot of self-help books available). An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness by Kay Redfield Jamison (this is an autobiography on living with Bipolar Disorder written by a Professor of Psychiatry at John Hopkins medical school) The Bell Jar by Sylvia Path (she is well-known poet who wrote this novel based on her own life dealing with depression) Trapped in the Mirror by Elan Golomb (self-help book for adult children of narcissists) The Mindful Way through Depression by Mark Williams, John Teasdale, Zindel Segal, and Jon Kabat-Zinn (self-help book on treating depression through Mindfulness Meditation) |
