Business and Technology
BSEE, University of Puerto Rico, 1975; MSEE, San Diego State, 1978; MBA Southwestern Nova University, 1986
I would like to introduce myself so that you know something about me. I was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, many moons ago. I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 1975 with a degree of Bachelor in Science In Electrical Engineering.
Right after graduation, I married my one and only wife Ana and moved to the United States to work with General Dynamics in San Diego, CA. At General Dynamics I worked as a Design Engineer. In this position I had the chance to work in very interesting projects such as the Atlas Centaur Rocket program, the F16 fighter armament control subsystem, the Tomahawk Cruise Missile, and other projects.
While in San Diego, I completed my Masters of Sciences in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with concentration in computer's advanced logic design. The hardest part of the MSEE was not the subject matter, but the fact that my first daughter decided to be borne on the day I was studying for a final test scheduled for the following day. While my wife was in labor, I was assisting her and studying for the test at the same time and that was really hard to do. Ana Maria, was born at 5 AM in the morning and at that moment I felt like I was in a cloud. At 8:00 AM, as a proud father, I took my final exam and I managed to score a 100%.
In 1985, I completed a Master's in Business Administration (MBA), with concentration in finance and marketing of new products. In this capacity I worked first as Technical Product Manager, responsible for managing the entire life cycle of high technology products from cradle to grave in the networking infrastructure markets.
I have also been teaching for over 13 years and I consider this my passion. I teach at De Anza and at the University of Phoenix where I teach programming courses and operating systems. I have to admit that, when all said is done, I really love teaching and sharing what I know.
