Melissa-Ann Nievera-Lozano describes herself as: mother, woman of color, and believer in storytelling as healing. Her research explores how the personal experiences of racism, classism, and sexism among critically engaged Filipina American scholars inform their work in higher education. Melissa sees the classroom as both a fragile and powerful place of personal transformation, helping to shape the world(s) we live in. She currently teaches courses in the Minor, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at San Jose State University and the Intercultural/International Studies Division at De Anza College.
