Human Anatomy and Physiology (5 Units)

Course Description:

Study of the digestive system, metabolism, renal function, immune response, endocrine control, reproduction, and genetics.

Prerequisite: Biology 40B with a grade of C or better.

Textbook:        Tortora et al.  Principles of Anatomy and Physiology

Lab manual:    Marieb, Human Anatomy and Physiology Lab Manual

Optional:          an Anatomy coloring book, colored pencils

Attendance, Drop Policy

You are expected to attend all lectures and to complete all labs and assignments.  If you miss more than two labs or two deadlines, you will be dropped from the class. Students caught cheating will be dropped from the class with a grade of F. If you choose to withdraw from the class, it is your responsibility to drop the class before the drop date

Lecture exams

Exam questions will be multiple choice, matching and short answer.  Only material covered in lecture will be on the exams and exams are not cumulative.  Please bring a scantron and a #2 pencil with you to the exams.  Make-up exams may be given when a student has a reasonable excuse for missing the exam and notifies me in advance.  Make-up exams must be taken within a week of the original test date.

Laboratory quizzes

Lab quizzes will be on the information covered in lab exercises and worksheets. They will include questions on anatomical structures, vocabulary, experimental concepts and procedures and data analysis.

extra credit

15 Extra Credit Points are available (not included in Total Points). See this website for details. Extra credit must be turned in by the deadline.

Grading

            A            90-100%

            B            80-89%

            C            70-79%

            D            60-69%
