II. Review of Reduction List with Comments from Constituency Groups:

Espinosa-Pieb encouraged the members to share the feedback they gathered from their consistency groups. In general people are dismayed and feel sad, but understand that the IPBT has to meet its $2.5 million target.

In response to a question on why so many athletics teams were high on the reduction list, Espinosa-Pieb explained that the members voted based on the research that they did and the data and calculations that are available on the IPBT website. She pointed out that the school is struggling to fund 19 athletics teams because of their high cost. She restated that every decision is very difficult and the group is aware of the negative impact on students and the school. She also reminded everyone that all affected programs would have to go to though the Viability Committee for the final recommendation.

Espinosa-Pieb has asked the college researcher to run data on impacted programs. She suggested that depending on the passage of Prop 30 the college might be able to redirect FTEF to generate FTES.

In order to meet the $2.5 million target (worst-case) the team would have to go down to line 54 on the reduction list.

In response to a request for clarification on why classified positions are still to be advertised Espinosa-Pieb replied that she would follow up with Human Resourses. Rueda responded that he would bring up this issue to the Classified Union (ACE).

Espinosa-Pieb reminded the members that College Council would meet on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 3:00 PM. She encouraged everybody to attend the meeting and reminded everybody that Instruction, Student Services and Finance & Educational Recourses would present their reduction lists based on the worst-case scenario.

In closing Espinosa-Pieb informed the members that the next (October 30, 2012) IPBT meeting will be canceled and the following (November 6, 2012) will be on hold for now and possibly canceled. The IPBT members will definitely meet on the following Tuesday (November 13, 2012) after the election.

Espinosa-Pieb and Bryant thanked everybody for their dedication and hard work on the reduction process.
