IPBT Meeting Notes – November 29, 2016 DRAFT

Approval of Notes, November 22, 2016 – The notes were approved.

Technology Plan 2017 - 2020 – (Spatafore, Pape)

Spatafore and Pape are the co-chairs of the Technology Committee. They are introducing a Technology Plan draft to all governance groups for feedback prior to requesting College Council approval on December 8, 2016.

Spatafore presented the Draft Technology Plan 2017 -2020 and requested members send feedback on the progress so far to Spatafore and Pape.

Spatafore requested a representative from the IPBT to serve on the Technology Committee.

Convocation Day Information – (Lee-Wheat, Pape)

Pape presented the following APRU 2017 Calendar -

March 3, 2016 – Convocation Day

March 24, 2016 - APRU 2017 Due Date – May be submitted early

April 10, 2016 - Dean’s summary available to chairs/faculty

April 12, 2016 - Dean’s summary to office of Instruction

The members approved the calendar.

Strong Workforce Initiative – (Margaret Bdzil)

Bdzil gave an introductory presentation on Strong Workforce Program Funding. The information pertaining the Strong Workforce Program plans i.e. Labor, Market Supply & Demand worksheets were shared with IPBT members via email. Margaret said that it would be ongoing source of money to support CTE programs only.  

She also clarified what CTE funding can be used for i.e. allowable vs. non-allowable items.

Espinosa-Pieb announced to the team that this is just an introductory CTE conversation and in the future the committee will talk more about CTE funding in the extended IPBT meetings. Meanwhile, she encouraged everyone to review CTE programs documentsthat Bdzil emailed.

Faculty Hiring Process –

IPB Team were advised to use the link below that would take them to the following documents for use in faculty ranking:

1) Hiring Data/Ranking – Espinosa-Pieb reminded everyone not to do any resorting or reorganizing of the data sheet for ease of vote counting. The members must rank all 21 positions with #1 being the highest and #21 lowest. Of the top positions selected only 8 will be hired. If funding permits the College will hire 2 more for a total of 10.

Instructions for Submitting Faculty Hiring Ranking –

Do a “Save AS” for the Ranking Sheet and replace the document name as follows:

 Example: lastnameranking2017-18

 Deadline for submission is – Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 5:00 PM

The voting results must be sending via email to VP of Instruction only.

Final Outcome of Faculty Ranking will be shared at the next meeting on December 6, 2016.

The experienced IPBT members shared their voting tip/techniques with the new members.

There was a question regarding how long a faculty position should stay on the Faculty Hiring list.

Espinosa-Pieb reminded the members that it’s up to the Viability Committee to decide if a program is viable or not. She also re-emphasized the importance of improving enrollment.
