Meeting Notes - October 10, 2012

Review of Agenda and Notes - There were no additions to the agenda and the notes from the October 3, 2012 meeting were approved.

SSPBT co-chair - Several members were not in attendance because they were attending conferences off campus. The discussion and selection of a new co-chair was postponed until the October 17th meeting.

Budget Reduction Proposals - Moberg reviewed adjustments made to the Admissions & Records/Assessment Budget Reduction proposal (submitted to the Board on July 2, 2012) based on a worst case scenario (Prop 30 does not pass in November). There was a discussion concerning Instruction maintaining the 50% rule between instructors and the classroom, which puts an additional burden on Student Services and the amount of reductions. LeBleu-Burns reviewed adjustments made to the Office of College Life, EOPS and Health Services and their impact.  Counseling and Outreach will review their budget reduction proposals at the October 17th meeting. During the discussion it was noted that we are not aware of Foothill reduction plans.

Updates - Academic Senate is reviewing Prerequisite clearance policies and making sure all grades are kept for a year for the auditors.  Admissions & Records - Veterans office is busy with new VRAP students that need additional services. They are working with Financial Aid to coordinate Foster Youth Services. Auditors are looking for specific attendance documents for courses they pull for review. Instructional areas should be aware this is a requirement. Counseling is busy with application workshops for UC/CSU and probation workshops. Recently hosted a meeting with Foothill counselors and discussed the different Allied Health Programs at both colleges.  Will meet again to discuss how the implementation of the Student Success Act might look. ISP - Enrollment for fall is approximately 1800. Number of transfers out is 473 (208 to UC, 132 CSU, 65 to private university in CA & 70 to out-of-state universities. Student Development/EOPS/Health Services Club Day, sponsored by the Inter-Club Council (60 clubs) is schedule for Thursday, October 11th and will include a Fall Fest for Health Services. Santa Clara County Health Services will be available for HIV screening and counseling. Regarding Course Repetitions, Cook is reviewing the requests and documentation has to be substantial for a petition to be approved.

SSPBT Goals & Priorities 2011-12 - were reviewed.  Members agreed to keep the same goals and priorities for 2012-13 with the following changes: Program Reviews, Program Viability to Program Viability Process, Veterans to Veterans Services, Services for Foster Youth (added), Core Student & Student Success Task Force to Student Success Act, Technology to Exploring Technology.
