SSPBT co-chair election
Nominations were accepted for co-chair of the SSPBT. Kevin Glapion was elected as the new co-chair.
-Accreditation - Team report will be presented on Thursday, October 27th at an Open Forum. A small celebration will follow.
-College Planning Committee - Web site for the CPC is now available. The CPC has created a academic college calendar (draft). They are discussing an assessment for graduating students. Suggestion that the assessment start in the Counseling 200 classes (review of the mission statement); ask graduating students whether they think they reached the goals of the mission statement.
-College Council - Reviewed and approved the Governance web page. Everyone was encouraged to review the information before the Accreditation team’s visit. www.deanza.edu/gov
-IPBT - Prioritizing the list of faculty hires and at their next meeting will begin ranking. SS positions include a retirement and a growth position in Counseling. Future position suggestion - Financial Aid counselor.
Other – Highlights from the RP Student Success Conference. Discussions included ways for colleges to share information and validate their work; focused on how to improve services and develop interventions; developing a line to the K-12 in the form of assessment and early intervention; State Academic Senate considering removing lifelong learning from the community college’s mission statement and possibly eliminating ESL and GED classes, impacting the K-12 system, and charging for classes. Cook asked Leonard (AS Representative) to lead a discussion at the next meeting and relay the information to Karen Chow, AS President.
Measures C Requests Requests are due for review and prioritization at the next meeting. Everyone encouraged to request items even if they are not sure they will be funded.
SSPBT Budget Reduction Timeline Programs will make budget reduction presentations at the next two meetings starting with Admissions and Records, Assessment and Financial Aid.
Updates -Academic Senate is focusing on the Student Success Task Force recommendations.
-Matriculation Committee meeting and working on strategies to notify students regarding course repetition.
-Admissions and Records is working on a process to address the state legislation regarding course repetition.
-Assessment working with the Financial Aid office to offer incentives for students to complete assessment tests as soon as possible.
-SLO's - All SS APRUs are online for review. Work continues on TrackDat.
