Meeting Notes - October 29, 2015

There were no amendments to the agenda or the notes.

SSPBT Survey Review

Last year’s survey was sent out to the committee for review before the meeting. Cook asked for any comments or thoughts about the results.

  • Maybe midway through the year, revisit our goals to see where we are.
  • Cook and Glapion will review what needs improvement and will report back to the group.

Reports from Committees

Shears reported on the Equity Action Council (EAC)

  • ETS is working on a new name change procedure, “Preferred Name and Pronoun.”
  • Still need to train instructors and counselors on how to assist students with this new form.

LeBleu-Burns reported on the Title IX committee

  • Smaller committees have been formed to concentrate on different areas of need.
    • Information & Communication committees were combined
      • Working on how to disperse information to the student
        population, faculty, and staff.
      • Creation of brochures, updating the website, posters, etc.
    • Training committee
      • Looking into doing a survey to find out what faculty and staff need from
        them in regards to training and information.
      • Researching groups to train or bring on campus to work with students
        on bystander intervention.
    • Working with different groups on campus to provide the same message
      to the students and to get the word out.
    • Meeting with the District was held to start working on the outdated policies and procedures to include the new state and federal regulations.
    • Health Services is assisting getting the word out with promoting “It’s on Us” during club day and is working on Tolerance Day.

Cook reported on the CSSO Region meeting held at Foothill. Included in this event was a presentation on the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI).

  • IEPI was created and funded through the state legislature.
  • The goal is to assist schools to be effective, well run, and have a strong
    accreditation process.
  • Working towards institutional strengthening
