Meeting Notes - February 2, 2017

Attending Members:  Argyriou, Cook (co-chair), Doan, Glapion (co-chair), LeBleu-Burns, Robles, Ward, White-Daniels

There were no amendments to the notes and one made to the agenda.

B Budget Discussion

Everyone on the SSPBT committee was in agreement with the proposed positions utilizing the B Budget including the permanent Custodian II position. Cook will notify Susan Cheu of the outcome so Cheu can proceed with her proposal to College Council.

Program & Committee Updates

  - White-Daniels reported on Starfish

  • Working with the representative to set up an informational meeting with the core team.
  • A pre-kick off meeting will be set-up to work on the roll out.
  • Then the official kick-off meeting will take place for everyone.

  - LeBleu-Burns reported on the Guardian Scholars Program for Foster Youth

  • De Anza now has this program available for Foster Youth students.
    • The program assists the students with the transfer process and access
      to resources and support they need to succeed.  

  - Ward reported on Naviance

  • The Naviance program will be going live at the end of February.
  • It is a new student recruitment/outreach tool for De Anza.
    • High School students can show interest in attending De Anza and we
      are notified so we can follow-up and connect with the student.

  - Robles reported on EOPS

  • EOPS program registration will be open from Feb. 6-10th.
  • The application is posted on the EOPS website and they would like to increase
    enrollment for the next quarter.

  - Glapion reported on DSPS

  • DSPS is looking into providing book vouchers for DSPS students.

  - Doan reported on PSME

  • Would like to have some emergency and safety training for the building for faculty and staff.

Institutional Research Report Discussion

  • The new MIS Quarterly Report for fall was released and the data was discussed.
    • The numbers have improved from last year.
    • The CARE/CalWorks population has gone down statewide except for in Southern California in the Los Angeles area where they have had an increase.
