Program Review – Year of Reflection

This year we review the data from program reviews and utilize the results to make plans and goals for the future. Program reviews are posted on the De Anza website.

Suggestions on how to approach the review:

  • Dedicate a meeting to the review process.
  • We need to break down 3SP to help with implementation.
  • Check over goals from last year to see where we are now.
  • Look at our services, what can we improve and possibly provide now.
    • Discussions: how have we been doing things, what can we possibly
do now with the new 3SP funding.
  • Review what has come to light to see what changes we need to make and what
    we should concentrate on.
    • TrakDat data – you can see what has been completed, what can be enhanced/emphasized.
      • To help fill the Equity gap
      • How to advocate for funding

  • Funding needs to be for Equity services only, cannot overlap with SSSP funding.
  • Suggestions:
    • Books

Updates from Teams

SSSP

1. Orientation – Spatafore, Ranck

Receiving proposals from vendors and working with District ETS.

2. Assessment – Mieso

  • A second retesting study is set for spring quarter. After this session the data will
be analyzed to see if this is something we want to continue.
  • De Anza will be participating in two state pilot programs:
    • Common Assessment
    • Multiple Majors

3. Comprehensive Ed Plan – LeBleu-Burns

  • We need to get a handle on the changes the SSSP Plan requires versus what we
    used to do.
  • Look into determining the flow for different students at different levels of the
    academic process.
  • Relationships need to be built with our student body and connect them to our services.
    • Increase our series of interactions with students.
  • Give access to faculty so they can see where a student is in the process and to assist
    using the correct SARS codes.
  • Start looking into what we can do to be better prepared for next year.

4. Follow-up/At Risk Students – Burgos

Burgos met with the probation team and is still reviewing the probation codes in SARS for the SSSP funding. The discussion is continuing if they want to make any changes to the codes or procedures.

Santa Cruz explained that currently a student will need to be on probation for five consecutive quarters before being dismissed. We have 5 different levels of probation for students. This year they changed the workshop from level 3 to level 1 and they are noticing improvements. The earlier intervention is catching the students so they have time to turn things around.

5. Technology – Mandy

Researching SmartHires – West Valley and Mission College use it for their work study program.
