3rd Steering Committee Meeting (Final of School Year)

The IMPACT AAPI Steering Committee is the grant project's oversight committee. It meets with IMPACT AAPI staff once a quarter to discuss current projects and activities as well as next steps.
Members of the public are invited to attend; please email Jim Nguyen at nguyenjames@deanza.edu to RSVP.

In the comprehensive workshop of this series, we will discuss the model minority myth and how students from the South East Asian (SEA) American, Filipino American, and Pacific Islander American communities are overlooked when it comes to discussions about under representation in higher education. In our 50-minute “fly by” workshops, you will
- watch all 4 videos with student, faculty, and staff interviews that discuss the different challenges AAPI students face
- learn a brief history of this population and how their immigration or refugee stories affect their perceptions of education.

IMPACT AAPI attends the 1st AANAPISI Western Regional Summit

CUPERTINO, CA – On Friday, March 16, Congressman Mike Honda (CA-15) provided the keynote address at the first-ever Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) Western Regional Summit. The daylong convening was hosted by the Asian American and Pacific Islander Association of Colleges and Universities (APIACU) at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA, and featured nearly 60 AANAPISI staff and faculty, government representatives, community leaders, and students.
