Practice listening and pronunciation

Getting Started
Turn on the monitor (if it is off)

Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete at the same time. (If the computer is already signed in, skip these steps)

Sign in:
User name: lsl
Password: one2b
Log on to: LARTS
Then press “OK

Double click on the "LSL Resources" folder that is on the desktop.

Listening Practice Sites
Double click on "Miki's Listening Sites"

An Internet Explorer window will open and you’ll be able to choose the site you want to visit.

To start using one, click on an underlined link.

Pronunciation
To practice pronunciation, double click on "ESL Software," which is in the "LSL Resources" folder.

Double click on the program that you want to use. We encorage you to try more than one. Pronunciation Power II is the continuation of Pronunciation Power I. Try Pronunciation Power I first since it has more exercises, a dictionary and games. Also try Pronunciation in American English.

Practice other English Skills
Sign in using the following information:
User name: esl
Password: 4tune
Log on to: LARTS
Then press “OK

Double click on the "ESL" folder that is on the desktop.

Choose the software that you want to use and double click on the icon.

Are You Done?
Click on the “Start” button on the left bottom corner of the screen.

Click “Shut Down.”

In the new window, select “Log off lsl.”

Please ALWAYS log off when you finish using a computer.

Record on a DVD

Guidelines
Control the equipment from the control box. DO NOT touch the TV, DVD, VCR or Camera. If you need help, talk to a staff member.

You need to bring your own DVD-R and it has to be a DVD-R 4.7Gb. Any other DVD won’t work.

Get Started
Press the “On/Off” button to turn on the TV (The DVD and camera are always on).

Press the “Open/Close/Eject” button

Insert your DVD-R in the slot

Press the “Open/Close/Eject” again to close the slot

Wait 10 seconds and press the “DVD” button

Adjust Camera
Adjust camera by pressing the buttons that say “Camera Left,” “Camera Right,” “Camera Up” and “Camera Down.”

The “Zoom In” and “Zoom Out” buttons will move the camera closer and farther.

Record
To start recording, press the “Record Room” button.

To stop, press the stop button:

Watch
To watch the last thing you recorded, press play:

You can see all the tracks you have recorded by pressing “DVD Record List

To move to the previous or next tracks press rewind and forward: and

When you find what you want to watch, press play:

Finalize
ONLY finalize when you are ready to take the DVD home or to some other place. After finalizing, you won’t be able to record anything anymore on that DVD.

To finalize, press the “Finalize DVD” button.

Done?
Press the “Open/Close/Eject” button to take the DVD out.

Press the “Open/Close/Eject” button to close the slot.

Press the “On/Off” button to turn the TV off.


Record on a tape

Guidelines
Control the equipment from the control box. DO NOT touch the TV, DVD, VCR or Camera. If you need help, talk to a staff member.

You need to bring your own tape.

Get Started
Press the “On/Off” button to turn on the TV (The VCR and camera are always on).

Insert your tape in the VCR.

Wait 5 seconds and press the “VCR” button.

Adjust Camera
Adjust camera by pressing the buttons that say “Camera Left,” “Camera Right,” “Camera Up” and “Camera Down.”

The “Zoom In” and “Zoom Out” buttons will move the camera closer and farther.

Record
To start recording, press the "VCR" button followed by the “Record Room” button.

To stop, press the stop button:

Watch
To rewind press

To forward press

After rewinding or forwarding, always press stop

When you find what you want to watch, press play

Done?
Press the “Open/Close/Eject” button to take the tape out.

Press the “Open/Close/Eject” button to close the DVD.

Press the “On/Off” button to turn the TV off.
