DE ANZA COLLEGE CELEBRATES NEW VTA BUS STOP
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Planned for October 20

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's (VTA) Bus Line 23 began making a new stop at De Anza College in Cupertino on Monday, October 6, 2008. This convenient new bus stop, specially designed for De Anza College, is the result of VTA and De Anza College staff working diligently to deliver a new bus stop just in time for students returning to school this Fall Quarter.

A formal ribbon cutting event is scheduled for Monday, October 20, at 3:30 p.m. at the new VTA bus stop located near the front of the Student and Community Services Building by Mary Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard. Cupertino Mayor Dolly Sandoval will be in attendance to commemorate the event. "As a former student and former Board member of De Anza College, I know that students taking the bus to get to classes will appreciate the convenience and safety that this new bus stop provides," said Mayor Sandoval .

"The new Line 23 bus stop is great because it will save me a couple of minutes every morning now that it's closer to the college. When you're rushing to get to class, every minute counts!" said De Anza freshman student, Manny Solís from Sunnyvale.

Recognizing the importance of this project, VTA applied for and was awarded a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant to build this facility and provide a closer connection to the more than 24,000 students attending De Anza College.

For more information contact VTA Customer Service at 408.321.2300, TTY for the hearing impaired 408.321.2330, or log on to www.vta.org. VTA's Downtown Customer Service Center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call center hours are from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
