The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity

  • Learn about this year's national theme for Black History Month in this talk and Q&A with Benjamin Bowser, sociology professor emeritus at California State University, East Bay.

BSU Movie Night: The Black Power Mixtape

  • Enjoy this screening of the 2011 documentary, "The Black Power Mixtape," hosted by the BSU.
  • Thursday, Feb. 11, starting at 6 p.m.

The Life of Carter G. Woodson

  • Get to know the “father of Black history” in this presentation by Travis Boyce, chair of African American Studies at San José State University.
  • Thursday, Feb. 18, noon-1 p.m.

Poetry Night With Queen D

  • Come on out for poetry night with Danee Black, the teacher, artist and poet who’s also known as Queen D.
  • Friday, Feb. 26, starting at 6 p.m.
