Board Honors Tenure Recipients

The Foothill-De Anza district board of trustees honored De Anza’s faculty tenure recipients during a special event on Monday, recognizing the 18 recipients for 2021 as well as 15 more from 2020.

The board held a special online celebration to honor both groups, since plans for a celebration last year were disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and related health orders. Trustees also approved moving 17 first-year and 10 second-year faculty members to the next stage on the track toward receiving tenure.

De Anza President Lloyd A. Holmes called the tenure recipients "an amazing group of individuals" as he introduced them during the board meeting.

Among those honored was Nursing instructor Sandra Diaz, who died of COVID-19 complications in January. She was on track to receive tenure this year, and President Holmes presented the award posthumously to recognize her service and contributions to the college.
