Be there for the 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 12 in the Outdoor Arena when the Dons play Chabot College for the Golden Gate Conference Championship. Underdogs in this competition, De Anza is ranked #9 in NorCal with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses (3 wins 1 loss in Conference). Women's Cross Country won the 2011 Coast Conference Championship for the 3rd time in 4 years on Oct 26. Freshman Oddessy Tapia was the overall individual Conference Champion. The De Anza Men finished in 4th place in the Coast Conference, Sophomore Daniel Damian was our top runner. Congratulations to coach Nick Mattis, his staff and his teams.
Congratulations to Nick Mattis for being named NorCal Coach of the Year for Cross Country for 2011. Nick's Women's Cross Country team won the NorCal Championship for the second time in 6 years. Both Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams will be going to the State Championships for the fifth consecutive year.
Congratulations to Art Lambert (retired) for being named to the San Jose Sports Authority Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be Wednesday November 9, 2011 at 6pm at the Main Concourse of the HP Pavilion in downtown San Jose. Art coached at De Anza, San Jose State, and Stanford. He was the coach for the 1971 state championship team at De Anza.
Congratulations to Bob Wegman (retired) for being named to the California Community College Water Polo Coaches Hall of Fame.The ceremony will be held on Saturday November 19 at 11am at Cerritos College, Norwalk California. Bob was the coach of two De Anza Men's Water Polo State Championships.
Congratulations to De Anza's athletic director Kulwant Singh for being named to the California Community College Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be held on Thursday December 1 at 6 p.m. at Cosumnes River College in Elk Grove, California. Kulwant's Women's Soccer Team won two State Championships, four NorCal Championships and one California Scholar-Team Award. Kulwant's Men's Soccer Team also won two State Championships and one California Scholar-Team Award. On Dec 4, 1994, Kulwant's Men's & Women's Soccer teams won State Titles on the same day.
