California History Center Explores Historic Preservation on De Anza Campus

Photo of historical building against backdrop of more modern structuresWhat are the burdens of maintaining and utilizing 19th-century buildings and landscapes for a modern California community college? What bonuses are won by preservation efforts?

Burden & Bonus: Historic Preservation and Demolition at De Anza College, a new exhibit at the California History Center, considers this theme through April 2008.

All are welcome to an opening reception on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Housed in the reconstructed le Petit Trianon, a national registered landmark located on the De Anza campus, the CHC offers credit classes, changing exhibits, a video documentation program and publishes at least one major book each year. Students can participate in all of these activities.

For more information, contact Tom Izu at 408.864.8986.
