Latina/o Student Graduation Ceremony and Reception

Friday, June 23
Ceremony: 6 - 8 p.m. at Flint Center
Reception: 8-9 p.m. on Campus Center Patio

LRC logoSTUDENTS: To participate in the ceremony as a graduate, meet with a counselor or academic advisor to confirm your graduation and/or transfer plans and complete the participation form for the Latina/Latino Graduation Ceremony. The participation form will remain open, but please be aware if you sign-up past June 9th your name will not be included in the program.

Beginning May 22, you may purchase a graduation cap and gown from the De Anza Bookstore. Please wear your cap and gown to the Latina/Latino Graduation Ceremony, as well as to the collegewide commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 30, at De Anza Stadium.

FACULTY, STAFF AND FRIENDS: Join in the celebration! 


We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational student speaker to address the community at the June 23 event.


Write one page describing your journey so far as a Latina/Latino college student, with the following focus:

  • Discuss what your education has meant for you and your family and the importance of education for the Latino community.
  • Also include a discussion of specific obstacle that you faced and overcame so far in your educational journey, and who or what helped you to overcome these obstacles.

Please email a copy of your speech to by Friday, June 2nd. Please include your name, email and phone number on your submission.


The selection will be made on or before June 12th. Note: Finalists will be required to deliver their speech to the selection committee on a date TBD. If selected, the committee will offer support and guidance as you work on your speech and will hold at least one rehearsal prior to the  day of the ceremony.

ADELA Scholarship

Each year De Anza awards ADELA scholarship(s) (see how to apply below) based on fundraising efforts and hosts a recognition ceremony for all graduating and transfer students who wish to participate. Last year, we awarded three $1,000 scholarships and hope to increase the number of scholarships this year. The deadline to apply for the ADELA scholarship has been extended! It is now Friday, June 2nd.

Please consider supporting the ADELA scholarship fund through a payroll deduction! See how below.

Students are eligible to apply for the ADELA scholarship if they plan on transferring to a four year university in the Fall of 2017 and/or have applied for graduation, and have submitted the online registration form for the Latina/Latino Graduation Ceremony.
