With online courses, students are required to have access to a working computer with a stable high speed internet
connection. Computers are available on campus in the
Learning Center and in local libraries. Computer problems
will not be an acceptable excuse for missing exams or
assignment deadlines.Be prepared to spend a minimum of 12 hours per week studying and using the course materials.
The class is completely online. There are NO on campus meetings.
Online courses cover the same material as an on campus class. Students will access all course materials online through the Catalyst course management system. There are no on campus meetings. Online courses are equivalent to on campus courses in terms of units and the number of hours required by students. Some students are under the mistaken impression that an online class requires less work because students do not attend lecture. However, instead of attending lectures, students complete online assignments that are designed to guide them through the material and take the equivalent amount of time. The course is not self-paced. All assignments have due dates and any late assignments will receive reduced credit.
Summer session is intensive. The course moves very quickly. We will complete 12 weeks of material in 6 weeks. Students must set aside adequate time for the course and pay attention to course assignment deadlines.

students may add the course ONLY if space is available. Add codes will be distributed starting the first day of classes at the discretion of the instructor, AND ONLY IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE.

DROPPING THE COURSE: Any enrolled student who does not log
on to the Humi 15 Course page in Catalyst during the first week of classes and complete
the Course Questionnaire will be dropped as a NO SHOW
to make space for students wishing to add.
After the first week, it is the student's responsibility to
drop, not the instructor's, and to adhere to all drop

Students are required to participate in four DISCUSSION FORUMS by posting written responses to assigned topics. All posts are graded by the instructor.

There are NO EXTRA CREDIT assignments in this course. In fairness to all, under no circumstance will the instructor offer a special extra credit assignment to an individual student to accommodate their desire for a higher grade.
There are sixteen PRACTICE QUIZZES available in Catalyst for students to check their comprehension and prepare for exams. These practice quizzes provide students with immediate feedback and can be taken multiple
times as a study aid.
CHAPTER OUTLINES are available in Catalyst to help students
review important concepts and prepare for exams.

Testing / Grading
TWO GRADED EXAMS are given online in Catalyst. They are
composed of multiple-choice questions. There is a 24-hour
time period during which the exam must be completed. All
exam dates are listed in Catalyst.
There are NO ALTERNATE EXAM TIMES and NO MAKE UP EXAMS.
However, if a make up exam is authorized due to
a documented medical emergency, the exam will be composed of short answer essay questions, not multiple choice.
At the end of the quarter, all points will be totaled in
order to determine the final course grade. Grades are based
solely on points and are not rounded up. Factors such as effort, improvement, personal hardships, desire for a higher grade, etc. are NOT part of the grading calculation. Any request for special grading consideration will be denied.

93-100% = A; 90-92% = A-
87-89% = B+; 83-86% = B; 80-82% = B-
77-79% = C+; 70-76% = C
67-69% = D+; 63-66% = D
60-62% = D-; 59% and below = F

Course grades are based upon two examinations of equal
written assignments, and participation in discussion forums.
