Prerequisites:(Open to non-nursing students with instructor approval.) Prerequisite: Nursing 81 and 81L (or 81N and 81NL); and Nursing 81P, all courses with a grade of C or better. Corequisite: Nursing 82P students must also enroll in Nursing 82 and 82L. Course Description:Pharmacology II provides students with a sound basis of pharmacology for entry into acute care nursing. Legal/ethical issues and safety principles will be stressed as an integral part of nursing practice. Teaching/learning principles will be expanded to assist the student in effective techniques in self care. Orem's model is used as a basis for all client interactions and is integrated into this process. The student will also incorporate principles of medical/surgical asepsis in the safe administration of medications by nonparenteral and parenteral routes with emphasis on parenteral routes.
