Prerequisites:(See general education pages for the requirement this course meets.) Advisory: English Writing 211 and Reading 211 (or Language Arts 211), or English as a Second Language 272 and 273. Course Description:An introduction to the discipline of Physical education through the study of Martial Arts in the form of Aikido. Includes a global and historical examination, key philosophical concepts of the Aikido tradition and the evolution of Aikido to its present form. Students will practice simple Aikido techniques for the mind, body and spirit that can easily be incorporated into daily life. Rotation movements, mindfulness, breath awareness, and relaxation techniques will be covered. The course will incorporate basic exercise physiology, nutrition, strength development, flexibility and meditation techniques as related to Aikido and health. This course is related to:
