Hours of Operation:
Monday - Thursday: 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Friday:9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
What is a Workshop:
Each week the Listening and Speaking Center offers free workshops for students who want to improve their English communication skills.
An instructor provides the topic for discussion, and the students will either talk as a group
or in pairs. The instructor also answers students’ questions about vocabulary and helps keep the conversation going.
There is no homework in the stand alone sessions but there may be preparation required for fworkshops meeting more than once.
Length:
Most workshops are 50 minutes and are stand alone sessions, but some workshops on special
topics require students to sign up for more than one session.
Preferred group size:
No more than 8 students

How To Sign Up:
- Students should sign up in advance in ATC 304. Students on the waitlist are encouraged to come to the workshop anyway because students who sign up sometimes don’t show up.
- A weekly schedule is available in ATC 304 and online.
Types of Workshops in the LSC:
The Listening and Speaking Center offers Conversation and Specialty workshops.
Conversation workshops concentrate on using informal English and have general topics such as relationships, traveling, students’ cultures, and other everyday topics.
Specialty workshops (“Listening”, “Speaking clearly”, “Special Topics”) include conversation practice, but the goal is to provide students with more information about vocabulary, idioms, and listening and speaking skills.
