What We Offer

The Academic Skills Center provides free workshops open to all De Anza students, and Adjunct Skills and Self-Paced Skills courses. Please see details below.

Workshops are small, interactive presentations and discussions on a variety of topics. Skills staff provide handouts and lead activities to help you improve study skills such as time management, textbook reading, concentration and memory, skills in English writing, grammar, spelling and vocabulary and more!  See the link  for current schedule and how to sign up.

Skills Workshops

Adjunct Study Skills (Skills 232) provides study skills assistance for selected content courses at De Anza. Students learn study strategies such as test taking, time management, note taking and textbook reading, and relate these skills to the specific content course linked to the adjunct skills class. Adjunct Skills courses combine weekly small group sessions with "lab" assignments and workshops.  Students complete assignments and workshops at their own pace.

Self-Paced Skills courses are flexible, individualized, open-entry 1/2 unit Pass/No Pass courses in study skills, reading, writing, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and basic math.
