Tutor Application

Tutoring at the De Anza Tutorial Centers is a great way to improve your content and communication skills and meet other great De Anza tutors!

If you'd like to become a De Anza tutor:

  • Complete a Tutor Application.  For Writing & Reading Center, Skills, or General Subject tutors, complete the  ATC New Tutor Application Form (word) and faculty recommendation form .  For math/science tutors, please complete the S-43 New Tutor Application .  Return the completed application to the appropriate center either in person or as an e-mail attachment. Please e-mail the Faculty Recommendation form to your instructor, and request he or she complete it and return it to supervisor as an e-mail attachment.
  • To be paid as a student employee you must be registered at De Anza for at least 6 units, or at least 12 units if you are an international student.
  • You must have completed each subject you wish to tutor with a grade of B or better and have an excellent recommendation from your instructor.
  • You must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Once you submit your application, you will be asked to complete a task to assess your skills, and meet with a SSC team member for an interview.
  • All new tutors are required to take one of the tutor training courses. Follow the links for more information about these courses.

If you are hired as a tutor:

  • Attend a Tutorial Procedures and Responsibilities Orientation with your Supervisor.
