EWRT/LRNA 97: Intro to Peer Tutoring in Writing
This course trains De Anza students to be peer writing tutors. In this course, new tutors learn to help student writers throughout the writing process and work with students at various levels of writing proficiency and from diverse backgrounds. They read about, observe, discuss, write about and practice the craft of tutoring writing. After an initial orientation, including reading and classroom exercises, students in the class begin tutoring and use class time to reflect upon those tutoring experiences. As part of the class, you need to interview and be selected as a tutor, then tutor 4-10 hours per week. You are paid as a student assistant for the hours you work as a tutor.

For students wanting to begin tutoring, please stop by the WRC as soon as possible (during the last two weeks of quarter prior to the one you'd like to tutor, or first week at the latest) to submit an application and arrange an interview.
