Update on UC July 1 Transcript Deadline

 (To view prior announcement, click here)

Recommended Action Items for Fall 2014 UC transfers

To support all efforts to adhere to UC's July 15 transcript deadline for De Anza College transcripts, we strongly recommend that students adopt the following measures:

1. If you submitted your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to a UC campus by UC's June 1 deadline, you should submit a transcript request (and IGETC certification request, if applicable) from De Anza College immediately.  You do not need to wait until finals week to submit your request.

For information on ordering transcripts, go to: www.deanza.edu/registration/transcript.html

  • If you are enrolled in courses this spring quarter, when prompted you should select "Send after final grades are posted for: Spring Term" (see image below for reference):

2. Although not required, it is a good idea to keep a record of all written/verbal correspondence between you, De Anza College, and UC regarding your transcript requests (e.g. dates, names, receipt of transcript orders, etc.) for reference.

3. Be sure to read and comply with all UC requests and deadlines.

Request for IGETC Certification

To request IGETC certification, complete the General Education Certification Request form and submit to De Anza’s Admissions & Records Office as soon as possible.

The following must be on file prior to submitting the GE Certification Request:

-  Transcripts from all colleges (non-FHDA) if coursework will be applied to GE certification;
-  Request for Transcript Evaluation Form must accompany non-FHDA transcripts;
-  High school or college transcript(s), if applicable, for the Language Other Than English
   requirement.

University of California July 1 Transcript Deadline for Fall 2014 Transfers

UC released the following statement on May 13, 2014:

“UC recognizes that, due to the school calendar, some high schools, colleges/universities and districts will be unable to meet the July 1 deadline. All UC campuses will allow additional time for the receipt of required transcripts, and will not disadvantage students due to the inability of the school to meet this deadline.

UC’s intent in moving up the deadline is to allow more time for campuses to review documents and evaluate transfer credit, which often is necessary for summer orientation programs.

We will ensure that all UC campuses receive a list of schools/colleges that will have difficulty complying.”

NOTE:  UC is aware that De Anza College is on the quarter system and our spring term ends on June 27, so De Anza students will not be required to meet the July 1 deadline, however:

  • UC must receive De Anza transcripts (and IGETC certification, if applicable) by July 15 so it is important to plan accordingly.  Do not wait until the last minute to order transcripts.  For information on ordering transcripts go to: http://www.deanza.edu/registration/transcript.html

  • If you are attending, or attended, other colleges/universities (except Foothill CC and Lake Tahoe CC), the July 1st deadline could apply for those transcripts, so it is important to plan accordingly.  Do not wait until the last minute to order transcripts.
  • Once you submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to a UC campus, we recommend you contact the campus Admissions Office with a brief reminder that De Anza College is on the quarter system and they will receive the transcript by July 15.

Students are encouraged to meet as early as possible and periodically with a counselor or academic adviser both at De Anza College and at the transfer institution to confirm your choice of classes and to develop an education plan for transfer.
