About the Fall 2020 Quarter

Fall classes will be offered either as fully-online or hybrid.  See below for a simplified description. 

Auto 50A - Introduction to Auto Principles (Online)

Auto 50A is an asynchronous class, which means it does not have a scheduled meeting time.   Students will receive a week's worth of work and activities at the beginning of each week.  The instructor will make announcements and have interaction with students.  Be prepared for a wild ride with Wishart.  Please e-mail Bill Wishart with any questions.  Here is some important information from Bill Wishart, instructor for Auto 50A and 50B 

Auto 50B - Applied Auto Principles (Hybrid)

Auto 50B will have some short asynchronous instructions and then meet at the auto tech building for lab work.  All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced.  Please e-mail Bill Wishart with any questions.  Here is some important information from Bill Wishart, instructor for Auto 50A and 50B 

Auto 53A - Mechanisms

Auto 53A is offered as a hybrid class, which means that Tuesdays will be online via Zoom lectures at the scheduled time.  On Thursdays students will meet in the shop for demonstrations and lab excercise, also at the scheduled time.  Get ready to learn with "Tinker-Toy Tech".  All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced.  Please contact Xavier Silva with any questions.

Auto 60 - Automotive Electrical (Hybrid)

Auto 60 is offered as a hybrid class, which means that one of the two class meetings will be online at the scheduled time and the other meeting will be in the shop for shop demonstrations.  Become an electrical expert and diagnose all those fast-blinking turn signals on the freeways.  All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced. Auto 60A Schematic Diagnosis (Online) & Auto 60B Electronics (Hybrid)

Auto 60A is offered as a synchronous online class on Mondays and Wednesday from 6-10PM for the first six weeks of fall quarter.  Using Zoom, your instructor will have live lectures focusing on how to use wiring schematics to diagnose faults and will leave you breathless.

Auto 60B is a follow-up to 60A and will be a hybrid class meeting online on Mondays and in the shop on Wednesdays, for the second six weeks.  You will apply what you learned in 60A to automotive electronics and help repair some of our school cars, which have suffered as they have been sheltered in place also.  They need some love. All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced.  Please e-mail Xavier Silva with any questions.

Auto 60F No Start Diagnosis (Hybrid) & Auto 60G Scan Tool Diagnosis (Hybrid)

Auto 60F is offered as a hybrid class that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10PM for the first six weeks of fall quarter.  On Tuesdays using Zoom, your instructor will have live lectures focusing on how to diagnose no start conditions.  Then on Thursdays, you will be involved in interactive demonstrations and you will learn effective routines for vehicles that will not start.

Auto 60G is offered as a hybrid class which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10PM for the second six weeks of fall quarter.  Tuesdays will be live lectures on how to effectively use scan tools for vehicle diagnosis.  Then on Thursdays, you will be involved in interactive demonstrations and become familiar with how scan tools can help diagnose faults.  All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced.  Please e-mail Xavier Silva with any questions.

Auto 62A Steering, Suspension, and Alignment (Hybrid)

Auto 62A is offered as a hybrid class which meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-10PM for the entire fall quarter.  Mondays will be live lectures via Zoom on steering and suspension components and their operations.  Then on Wednesdays, you will be in the shop to be the first students to use our brand new alignment lifts and aligners.  You won't even recognize the main shop, it's that cool! All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced.  Please e-mail James Tallent with any questions.

Auto 63 Automotive Transmissions (Hybrid)

Auto 63 is offered as a hybrid class which meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-10PM.  Mondays you will be in the shop grabbing some gears and learning about transmissions.  You might even get to see a demonstration using our brand new transmission dynomometer.  Then Wednesdays you will shift gears to live lectures via Zoom. All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced.  Please e-mail Rick Maynard with any questions.  

Auto 65P Level 1 Smog (Online) & 65W Level 2 Smog (Hybrid)

Auto 65P and 65W are offered as a hybrid class which means some of the class will be conducted live via Zoom, including all rules and regulations needed to pass the State test. The remaining part of the class will be in the shop completing the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) mandated tasks including a full inspection on the BAR-97 machine/dynomometer, the Data Acquisition Device/On-Board Inspection System (DAD-OIS) machine, and visual and functional inspections needed to perform a proper Smog Check.  All safety, face covering, and social distancing will be strictly followed and enforced.Please e-mail Pete Vernazza for any questions.
