About Me

A free press can be good or bad, but, most certainly, without freedom a press will never be anything but bad.

~Albert Camus

Areas of Focus

Journalism, media studies.

My classroom is a dynamic space where we exchange ideas freely and celebrate teaching, learning and diversity.

Teaching is my second career. I  covered business and labor as a reporter at the Detroit Free Press for six years, and before that worked my way up through four daily newspapers in Ontario, Canada.  I believe strongly that the protections of the First Amendment are crucial to a free and democratic society. Black Lives Matter
