About De Anza College
De Anza offers a broad range of academic and career programs, cultural activities, sports and social events to nearly 16,000 students each quarter. Students can choose from nearly 200 academic degrees and certificates, along with 30 noncredit certificates and approximately 1,800 courses.
While students have many options, everyone at De Anza is invited to join one of the six Villages established under the college’s Guided Pathways program. These are supportive communities of students, faculty and staff, organized around related majors. The Villages offer resources and activities keyed to their students’ academic interests and goals. Each Village has its own webpage, an online instructional site, and a designated physical space on campus where students can meet peers, instructors and counselors – to study or just hang out
The six Villages are:
• Artistic Expression
• Business and Finance
• Health and Life Sciences
• Language and Communication
• Physical Sciences andTechnology
• Social Sciences and Humanities
Students attending De Anza enjoy the whole college experience. They can join one of 60 student clubs or start
a new one; walk through time at the California History Center; visit the stars at the Planetarium; explore the diversified ecosystems of the Cheeseman Environmental Study Area; and join or root for a sports team – there are 17 to choose from.
An education at De Anza isn’t just about books and tests. Students also discover a diversity of people representing cultures from around the world and learn how to become fully engaged, politically aware citizens. Many students find opportunities for community service and engaged learning through the college’s Vasconcellos Institute for Democracy in Action.
Classes and activities are held in state-of-the-art facilities, many funded through generous support of local voters. The college is committed to environmental sustainability both in building design and operations.
De Anza consistently ranks at or near the top among California community colleges in the number of transfers to the University of California and California State University campuses.
In addition, more than 30,000 friends and neighbors participate in De Anza’s Community Education programs each year, including the Child Development Center, De Anza College Academy for students in grades K-12, De Anza Planetarium and Euphrat Museum of Art.
