 The application process is very simple.
  1. Download the: International Student Application Form
  2. Return the application form along with all of the supporting documents listed on the front page of the application to the International Student Programs Office address.                 
  3. Also, please complete the Admission/Express Mail Fee Credit Card Payment Form and submit with your application.
  4. Please declare your major on the application form by using our List of Majors.

De Anza College is on a quarter academic calendar. New international students are admitted three times per year.

When To Apply

It is strongly recommended that students apply six months before the quarter they wish to start studying. Do not wait until the application deadline! Once the ISP office receives the application form with all of the supporting documents, we will begin evaluation of your application and an admission decision will be made within 3-5 weeks.

Admission Requirements

  1. International Student Application Form- Completed & Signed
  2. English proficiency requirement- A minimum score or higher on one the following examinations is required for direct admission (exam must have been taken within the last two years):
  • TOEFL- 61iBT (Foothill ETS code is 4315, De Anza ETS colde is 4286)
  • IELTS- 6.0
  • iTEP Academic- Level 4
  • Pearson PTE Academic- 45
  • Cambridge- 175+ on advanced or proficiency exam
  • STEP EIKEN (Japan)*- 2A

*The EIKEN Test in Practical English Proficiency is Japan’s English language assessment test. Using EIKEN to fulfill De Anza’s English proficiency admissions requirement is accepted from Japanese students only. A minimum grade of 2A on the EIKEN is required. More information can be found at http://stepeiken.org/. Please note that EIKEN score results that are more than 2 years old will not be accepted.      

Do you have a low TOEFL Score?

 

If your TOEFL score is below the minimum required for admission to De Anza, you can:

  • attend De Anza Summer Program. See Summer ESL Program
  • take the TOEFL again until you pass it or
  • if you do not have a TOEFL score, you could attend a local Language School: ESL language schools. De Anza has a guaranteed admission agreement with many local languages schools.

3. Bank Letter. Submit an original bank letter from your account or sponsor's dated within the last 6 months with an official signature on bank letterhead that shows available amount as stated on the application for admission in US dollars.

4. Transcripts. Submit original or certified English translations of your secondary and post-secondary transcripts.

5. Photograph (passport size)

6. $75 Application Fee. Submit a non-refundable 75.00 USD application fee by money order, bank draft (payable through a U.S. branch), or credit card. NO CASH

7. Dependent(s) Form for spouse/child (if they plan to reside with you in the U.S.)

Important: All documents submitted to De Anza College as part of the application becomes the property of the college. This is a common practice among schools in the U.S. Students should always request more than one set of their transcripts for other future needs.

 

Admission Forms

Students who wish to change their current immigration status to F-1 can find information from the following U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website:

The ISP Office at De Anza College will be able to issue a change of status I-20 to eligible applicants only. Students holding visitor’s visa B2, will only be issued initial I-20 and they must return to their home country to obtain the F-1 Visa.

ISP DOES NOT provide any advice on Change of Status. Students should consult with an immigration attorney.

Summer ESL Program

If your TOEFL score is between 475 and 499 (CBT: between 151 & 172, iBT between 52 & 60, IELTS 5.0) and you would like to apply to De Anza for the Fall quarter, you can attend our Summer ESL Program,an eight-week intensive language study program which guarantees you admission to De Anza in the following Fall quarter upon successful completion of the program. Check out the link for more information and application procedures.

Cost International students on the F-1 visa pay $187.00 per unit. Students are required to enroll in a minimum of 12 units (full time) each quarter. Please see the International Student Application Form for an outline of all fees and estimated expenses.

transferring from another U.S. school

If you are transferring to De Anza College from another U.S. school, it is required that both you and the school you are currently enrolled at, complete the Transfer Release Form and submit it to the ISP office.

Minor Students

Applicants who are less than 18 years of age must complete and return to the ISP office the Parent/Guardian Authorization form before they can be allowed to register for classes.

Health Insurance

All F-1 international students enrolled in Foothill and De Anza colleges are required to purchase and subscribe to the health insurance selected by the FHDA district. Please read more about it here.
