Please see below for a description of the racial and ethnic categories to be inputted on page 2 of the International Student Application under the What is your racial/ethnic background section:
Are You Hispanic or Latino?
A person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race. If yes, write one or more of the following:
- Mexican, Mexican-American, Chicano Central American
- South American
- Hispanic: Other
What Is Your Race?
You can write one or more of the following from the bulleted lists:
Asian: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian Subcontinent.
- Asian: Other
Black: A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa.
- Black or African American
Native American: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America) who maintains cultural identification through tribal affiliation or community attachment.
- American Indian / Alaskan Native
Pacific Islander: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of: Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.
- Pacific Islander: Other
White: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of: Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.
