Free Student Success and Support Services Workshops Offered This Spring

A variety of workshops are planned this spring to help students succeed at De Anza and beyond.

Many workshops start the fourth week of classes and continue throughout the quarter, sponsored by different departments on campus. Take a look at the offerings. Then mark your calendar with the dates and times.

Spring Workshop Topic Areas

  • Academic Skills
    Topics include note-taking, textbook reading skills, how to communicate in reading groups, and goal setting and motivation, just to name a few! Sponsored by the Student Success Center.

  • Choosing a Major and/or Career Workshops
    Advance registration is required. Learn to identify potential college majors and career options based on The True Colors Personality System. Sponsored by Counseling and Advising Center.

  • Transfer Center College & University Representative Visits
    There are no transfer workshops currently scheduled for spring, but several college and university representatives will be on campus throughout this quarter.

  • New this Quarter! Transfer Tuesdays
    Stop by Table 6 in the Dining Hall of the Campus Center on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to meet and bring your questions for counselors and advisors from the Transfer Center. Dates include May 6, 13, 20, 27 and June 3, 10.

Graduation Open House

If you plan to graduate this spring, please file for your degree by Friday, May 23, to be included in the printed program for the 2014 Commencement Ceremony.

How to File for Graduation
  1. Group of De Anza graduates

    Download and fill out the Graduation Application for an Associates Degree PDF form online. Then print and sign it.
  2. Do a degree audit through DegreeWorks in MyPortal.
  3. Print out your degree audit report and attach to application.
  4. Submit to the Admissions and Records Drop Box, located outside the south entrance of the Student and Community Services building. See map for location.

If you need assistance doing your degree audit and/or completing your degree application, attend the Graduation Open House in the Counseling and Advising Center on Wednesday or Thursday, May 14-15, or come in for drop-in counseling/advising before the deadline.

Summer Graduates

Summer graduates who want to participate in the commencement ceremony will need to submit an application in person before the commencement ceremony on June 28. Those students should come to the Graduation Open House OR see a counselor by noon on Friday, June 27.
